The Bride of the Water God chapter 95

2010/09/12

The Bride of the Water God chapter 95 (하백의 신부 제95회) appeared in the September 1, 2010 issue of Wink Magazine. If you don’t want to know, don’t read.

SPOILER ALERT

Beautiful mountain landscape background. Huge thudding noises.  Biryum is flying on his dragon and says it’s difficult to find since it is always moving but that is Chung Yo San (Blue Shaking Mountain?) where Mura is. Habaek’s carrying Soah with the reins of another dragon. Title page shows a huge walking turtle on whose back is the mountainous landscape with lots of birds flying around. (You can’t see the end of its feet so you don’t know what it’s walking ON.)

Mura says he’s finally here. She’s thinking that he’s late and she knew he’d come for the last fruit she has. Another woman with light-colored hair (can’t see her whole face yet) comments that Mura is still clinging to that fake love of hers and she[Mura] will soon come to know how love is devoid of … (tenderness?)  Mura’s like, Goddess of Happiness/Fortune (“Gil Sang Chun Nyuh”), you can’t exactly be telling that to me when you, yourself, had fallen in love with a human male and did the forbidden and made him into a god. The other goddess says, yes, Mura, you’re correct, but also — I was also the one who killed him. You see her entire body and face now. She has a feminine tattoo thing on her forehead and wears a Mandarin-style dress and holds a circular hand fan. She continues by saying that how dare a human set foot on the [Blue? Shaking Mountain]. And that she’s not too keen on the emperor, but one part of him she does like is how he hates humans — those useless and powerless insect-like things. And she comments that since he even brought a human here then the rumors that the water god is in love with a human seem to be true. And he[Habaek] is being as  naive/immature/childish as Mura is since the love between a god and a human can only have one result/ending. And if she[Mura] doesn’t know, she[Fortune Goddess] will tell her — what the cost of loving a god is to the one who loves the god. Mura’s like, your issues have nothing to do with me so keep your hands off Habaek since he is  my issue. Goddess of Fortune’s like don’t worry I won’t touch the one you yearn for. Scene switch.

Habaek says he’ll go alone from here and asks Biryum to look after Soah. Soah’s like no, I want to go with you. He tells her to stop being stubborn and listen to him. This place isn’t the water country and it’s not the lunar palace. And all gods are strongest within their own territories. And this place is Mura’s and so she’ll be the strongest of anyone, here, on this mountain. And he cannot let her[Soah] get into any more danger than he’s already put her in by bringing her here. Soah says she understands and she’ll wait here, but instead, he needs to promise her that he won’t make her wait long this time. He says he promises and tells her to hold onto ‘this’. In her hand is a charm…normally I’d say it’s a choker necklace but it’s too short for that. It’s like the length of a cell-phone charm. At the end is an oriental knot. At the other end is a dark bead with some flowers around it. He says that this bead will protect her in his stead. She says she won’t lose it and will hold onto it. Habaek leaves. Biryum’s like okay now we … she interrupts and tells him to follow Mui. And Biryum’s like what? Do you know how dangerous it is where he’s going? And she’s like yes and that is why she can’t send Mui alone to somewhere so dangerous. He’s like no no way and he promised Mui to keep her safe. She asks him isn’t he worried about Mura, too, and that it must have been a lie about him loving Mura since he’s just leaving the one he loves in danger while he observes from a safe place… He tells her to promise she will just stand and wait and not do anything dangerous. Soah says she promises. Biryum is walking away. He glances back and is like, “Who’s there?!!” a noise indicates the thing is leaving. Biryum’s like, you’re thinking of getting away?! Stay still! Soah’s like, “Biryum?” Biryum is thinking he had spied the back of Mura. He gets caught by these pieces of paper that are like those Shinto pieces of paper with wards scrawled on them. He realizes he fell into a trap and that Soah is in danger. Soah’s wondering where he went and she thinks she should have just stayed where they had been and what should she do it seems she got lost. [ComicSeoul's comment -- sometimes I think her character is made out to be far too STUPID for my taste] She gets sleepy all of a sudden and can’t stay awake. She dozes off. Some guy holding an ornate sword and dressed in a cropped upper armor piece and …eyepatch? with a big big big big white wolf (with a symbol on its forehead) are standing above her. End of chapter.
